Sustainable Future Environmental Challenges and Climate Change Objective


The objective of the course on "Sustainable Future: Environmental Challenges and Climate Change" is to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the complex environmental issues facing our planet today. It explores the causes and consequences of climate change along with other pressing environmental challenges such as biodiversity loss, deforestation, and pollution. The course fosters critical thinking about sustainable practices and emphasizes the urgent need for global cooperation in addressing these issues. By examining scientific data, policy frameworks, and real-world case studies, participants will gain the knowledge and tools necessary to contribute meaningfully to mitigating environmental degradation and promoting environmental justice and sustainability.

The primary aim of this course is to educate participants on the complexities of environmental and climate change issues, while empowering them to develop and implement practical, solution-oriented strategies. Through a multidisciplinary approach, the course fosters critical thinking, informed decision-making, and collaborative problem-solving.

  • Enhancing understanding of global and local environmental challenges
  • Exploring the science and policy dimensions of climate change
  • Promoting sustainable practices and climate resilience
  • Encouraging innovation and community-based solutions
  • Equipping participants with tools to advocate for environmental justice

After completion of the course, the participants will be able to

  • understand environment, ecosystem, and climate change (world biomes, different ecosystems, pollutions, EQS, different Conventions (UNFCCC, UNCBD, UNCCD), negotiation, adaptation, mitigation, The Paris Agreement, 1.5° Celsius, etc.)
  • know the environmental policies, treaties and environment management plan (Environment Policies, legislations, institutions, impacts assessment and management, Pollution Conventions and Agreements, Blue Economy, Bangladesh Delta Plan 2100, etc.)
  • learn the process and techniques required for preparation of a District Environment Management Plan (DEMP), and
  • internalize the impacts of environmental damage and climate change through a field visit.
