Overview of BIGM Research


 

 

 

Bangladesh Institute of Governance and Management (BIGM) aspires to be a premium knowledge hub. The vision of BIGM is to become a center of excellence in teaching, training and research on policy options regarding governance and development and to help the relevant entities establish an effective, transparent and accountable public and private service in Bangladesh.

The research portfolio of BIGM is multi-dimensional and multi-disciplinary in nature. Growth, Investment, Human capital, External Sector (Remittance), Energy and Environment, Health and Governance, Finance, Gender Issue, Think Tank, Machine Learning, Bioinformatics and Computational Biology, Big data, Developmental Economics, Optical Technology, Epidemiology AND Computational Mathematics,  Human Resource and Organizational Development and many of the contemporary burning issues come up as the major topics of research undertaken by BIGM. 

Bangladesh Institute of Governance and Management (BIGM) is a specialized post-graduate institution established in the year 2006 with the objective of creating a center of excellence in advanced studies, research and training on public policy and management. A culture of research is ingrained within BIGM’s academic and organizational fabric which got momentum since August, 2017. The faculty as well as the core members of the research cell along with the students and trainees are constantly engaged in carrying out studies and research on different national priority areas.

The researchers of BIGM have already presented their papers in various international fora’s, seminars and workshops. BIGM researchers have been conducting primary research as well as the secondary research. BIGM is now working on the research project of MoPA and Cabinet Division. The researchers are published many papers in international journals and conferences on multi-dimensional and multi-disciplinary fields. BIGM is also planned for publishing an annual BIGM journal of Policy Analysis.

BIGM has undertaken rigorous policy research on macro and micro economic issues to provide policy inputs for achieving the country’s SDGs by 2030 and to become a developed country by 2041. The Institute is expanding its outreach to collaborate and to share its expertise, talents and resources with different academies, institutes, universities, research centers and think tanks working within the country and abroad. Thus, BIGM is working on different fronts with multipronged strategies to elevate it as a specialized institute of international standard.
