On behalf of Bangladesh Institute of Governance and Management (BIGM) I would like to welcome and thank you all for showing your interest in BIGM. At the very outset it is good to be reminded of the elements that make BIGM unique. The most fundamental trait of BIGM is the uncompromising commitment to excellence in education, research and training, enshrined in the BIGM’s mission statement. All these can be lived out in practice each and every day in our class and supervision rooms, in our library and research lab, in our conference hall and computer lab. Even our spacious, eco-friendly and extensive greenery campus can mark the difference.

Over the last 19 years, BIGM has been offering Master of Policy Affairs (MPA) Programs in Governance and Public Policy (GPP), International Economic Relations (IER), Human Resource Management (HRM), Project Management (PM), Procurement and Supply Chain Management, and Public Private Financial Management. Ultimate aim is to equip mid level executives of both public and private sectors with the knowledge, skills and competence so that they can effectively contribute in policy formulation exercises and implementation thereof. As the national hub of public policy analysis, BIGM has been engaged in running training programs such as Policy Analysis; Strategic Management; Rise to Lead: Developing Future Leaders; Environmental Challenges and Climate Change; Fundamentals of Research Methodology; Statistical Modeling with R; Statistical Modeling with Python; Data Management and Quantitative Analysis with STATA; Advanced Project Management; VAT Management and Basic Mathematics and Statistics for Social Science Research with the Application of R.

A culture of research is ingrained within BIGM’s academic and organizational fabric. Faculty members, officers and students are compulsorily required to conduct research on national priority areas. The biennial BIGM Journal of Policy Analysis published its first issue in 2023, followed by the second issue in 2025.

We are reaching our hands outward to share our expertise, talents and resources with different academies, institutes, universities, research centres and think tanks working within the country and abroad. Thus we are working on different fronts with multipronged strategies to transform BIGM as a specialized institute of international standard. We remain resolutely confident in BIGM’s ability to endure and contribute towards fulfilling our national dream to make our beloved country Bangladesh a happy prosperous nation. In effect, actually we are all trustees, nurturing BIGM on behalf of new generations that will be producing new ideas and tackling problems that we cannot even begin to imagine.
