Dr. Nasim Ahmed works as an Associate Professor of Public Policy at the Bangladesh Institute of Governance and Management. He was a career civil servant and retired as an Additional Secretary to the Government of Bangladesh. He holds a PhD in Public Policy from the University of Ulster in the United Kingdom. Dr. Ahmed was awarded an M.Phil. degree in Public Administration and Organization Theory from the University of Bergen, Norway. Earlier, he earned both a Master’s and a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of Dhaka and ranked first in the first class in both the examinations.
In his civil service career, Dr. Ahmed worked at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Cabinet Division, Economic Relations Division, Ministry of Industries, Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Water Resources, National Board of Revenue, Bangladesh Parliament Secretariat in different capacities. He also worked as a Commercial Counselor at the Bangladesh High Commission in Canberra, Australia.
Dr. Ahmed teaches courses for master's level students on Political Science, Public Administration, Governance and Public Policy, Organizational Behavior, Strategic Management, and Human Resource Management. His broad research interests encompass public policy and governance, public administration, foreign direct investment, trade, commerce, industry, and contemporary socio-economic and development policy issues. He frequently contributes op-eds to national English dailies and has published extensively in national and international peer-reviewed journals. He is a professional trainer of public policy analysis, strategic management, leadership, and team building. Dr. Ahmed also does consultancy in his area of expertise.
