Message from the Chairman

BIGM, a postgraduate level institution, affiliated with the University of Dhaka, made its debut in 2006 as Civil Service College offering Masters Programme in Governance and Public Policy & International Economic Relations to mid-level public servants and executives of the private sector. Subsequently, a Masters Programme on Human Resources Development was also added, and in line with its mandate, charter, objective, and national characteristic, the name was changed from Civil Service College to Bangladesh Institute of Governance and Management (BIGM). The vision, foresight, and wisdom of some of our colleagues in the civil service led to the creation of this institution which is to become a center of excellence in teaching, training, and research on policy options on governance and development.

We believe that mere learning and knowledge-gathering without having a corresponding mechanism in place for its practical application for the good and welfare of the people is a fruitless exercise. Any institution worth its name must strive to optimize the productivity of its students. With this end in view, BIGM is offering a specialized program of conducting research/training of global standard to help establish an effective, transparent, and accountable public servants and senior management staff in the private sector.

BIGM vows to be internationally recognized as an institution of excellence and a seat of learning comparable to the best and eminent public administration schools anywhere in the world and with hard work, dedication and commitment, we shall achieve this goal.
